Postdoctoral positions are currently open in the laboratory of Dr.
Dmitri Ivanov at the Department of Biochemistry of the University of
Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Our lab is interested
in the assembly of larger macromolecular complexes with particular
emphasis on HIV assembly and DNA repair. Please visit
http://ivanovlab.uthscsa.edu
for more information. Ideal candidates will have a Ph.D. in
Biochemistry/Biophysics/Structural or Molecular Biology and expertise
in one or more of the following subjects: protein NMR, X-ray
crystallography, HIV assembly, HIV restriction, DNA repair, drug
discovery.
The laboratory is supported by generous funding from
the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (
http://www.uthscsa.edu/hscnews/singleformat.asp?newID=3330
) and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
We share the top floor of the Allied Health Research Building with four
other laboratories working in the field of protein
structure/function. The Department of Biochemistry maintains
state-of-the-art core facilities for biomolecular NMR spectroscopy,
X-ray crystallography, Surface Plasmon Resonance, Analytical
Ultracentrifugation and Mass Spectrometry. The NMR facility
located next door offers access to 500 MHz, 600 MHz and 700 MHz Bruker
spectrometers. The 600 and 700 are equipped with
cryoprobes.
The city of San Antonio is a major tourist
attraction in the state of Texas with animated downtown and a very
reasonable cost of living. Start dates are flexible.
