Postdoctoral positions are available immediately in
the laboratory of Jean Baum in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical
Biology at Rutgers University. Specific research projects include (1)
Exploring the mechanism of protein misfolding or amyloid formation in
Parkinson’s disease by using NMR and other biophysical techniques (2)
Understanding collagen recognition and collagen disease using solution
NMR. Candidates must have experience in biomolecular NMR and
molecular biology.
Our laboratory has abundant access to state of the art NMR
spectrometers including an 800 MHz Varian, a 700 MHz Bruker with
cryoprobe, a 600 MHz Varian with cryoprobe and a 600 MHz Bruker
spectrometer. The projects are interdisciplinary and
include other techniques such as fluorescence and TEM or AFM as well as
extensive collaborations with computational chemists.
