RESEARCH STAFF POSITION
City University of New York (CUNY)
Institute for Macromolecular Assemblies
A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is
available IMMEDIATELY to
investigate the molecular structure
and biomechanics of plant cuticles using NMR, AFM, and
stress-strain methods. This grant-funded position requires a
Ph.D. in chemistry or biochemistry, with experience in one or more of
the following areas: high-resolution solid and solution-state
NMR, isolation of plant materials, scanning probe microscopy,
biomechanical measurements. Fringe benefits include health and
life insurance, a contributory retirement account, and vacation time.

CCNY houses CUNY’s Macromolecular Assemblies
Institute and hosts the world-class New York Structural Biology Center
on its campus; our research community includes several hundred
chemists, biologists, physicists, medical researchers, and both
chemical and bioengineers and interacts with a university network of 23
colleges and professional schools. Located in the up-and-coming
Hamilton Heights section of Manhattan, CCNY is accessible by major
subway and bus lines within the metropolitan New York area.
The Stark research group makes extensive use of NMR
spectrometers operated by the CCNY Division of Science: a 4-channel
Varian UnityINOVA with cryogenic probe (600 MHz) and a 4-channel Varian
DirectDrive for solids and liquids (600 MHz). Excellent
state-of-the-art 750-900 MHz NMR facilities and rich scientific
interactions are accessible at the nearby New York Structural Biology
Center.
The City University of New York is an AA/
EO/ADA Employer.
